  1. Glad you took a look. I would get extreme headaches, so I went into research. Nothing against TJ's, just it is a good idea to look into the packaging. I get lots of great things (COVID eating!) from there. Sometimes you can mix a lower sodium thing to thin out the original version. We are all kind of stuck, so I hope you can find a way you can enjoy your soup.
  2. Despite my visit with a 5:45am raccoon in my trash bin, made it to TJ's before 9 in mental okay state- those little eyes staring at me gave me a shock. At TJ's there are some strong fans of Dorthy's smoked soft rind cheese. I liked it, dog did not. It was different. I like Delice and something more messy. But let's try new things these days. The almond butter chia overnight oats was a win with doggie and me, at 340 calories a serving gotta watch it. The country roses were pretty for those of you in the market! In the Georgetown, they were tucked back into the upper aisle. 7.99 a bunch.
  3. Thanks! Number1 used to be at Palisades market, but now we have Fresh Crunch (cauliflower and crunchy cukes). Will have to give Number1 a check again. Going to get off my sorry, lazy rear and get to the market this weekend! Happy Valentine's. I think this weekend is more apples from Kuhn's and some caviar from Blacksalt. Not feeling too bad. Will try to report back, but Kuhn's does have a good supply.
  4. That is who I buy from. Guess I will slow down a bit and get to our Sunday market. Gold Rush will be on my list. Thanks! Waxed over apples are yucky.
  5. Thanks Bart! First time starting a thread.
  6. Just found out about these DC urban gardeners. They have edible flowers and green stuff :-). They also have membership plans. Have not tried them out yet, but I really like their project. My husband said there was a TV episode about them so that is how a learned. A bit of info on a cool local project.
  7. TJ's prepped food can have a super heavy hand with salt. Yeah, TJ's is a super condiment enabler! But that store, during this COVID mess, has been a Mecca. My friend said she liked the frozen kibbeh. Of course there is better, but who knows?
  8. TJ's is the highlight of my week! It is super convenient for me and no professional shoppers- Tenley WF is like a battle ground. I have otherwise been trying to keep my shopping to smaller local people. Garlic sauce is great, so is the Zough and the herbed tahini sauce- all in that packed super zone of refrigerated sauces. I know it is not tomato season and they are not perfection, but there are these Sunset Teeny Tiny Tomatoes that can really hit the spot. At least it is a healthy snack. My naughty snack it the Spicy Chakri Mix. It actually has curry leaf bits in it. I also love the gluten free crisp bread (tucked in-between the chips), the big ones not the little ones that they put some off tasting onion powder in. Happy safe shopping.
  9. With the snow I got lazy and did not do the required farmer's market loop. Feel like a bad person about it. Anybody got a good apple dealer? My and my doggie have to get our stash.
  10. Went on their site. Edible Perfume Spray sounded funny, but can get pricey. None the less, it is fun to look around on. Got some Sunday funday planned! Virtual shopping for things you do not buy. COVID exercise. Thanks for the link!
  11. Just got a pop up message from Joe's, cannot find it. Kid's steak are cooked medium well, they told us. I just said ok. My fault, should have asked for medium. They were great and COVID dining can be concerning, but if you try to work off hours you might do okay. it was nice to be in a proper doing room!! Everyone dressed proper and respected mask at the table rules.
  12. For most of the time there at 12, we were the only customers. Older daughter ordered Bronzino, I love Fiola Mare but she did well with her serving. Fiola is better. I am just happy when she eats fish. Younger daughter had kids filet beef, yeah nothing to say anything about it. Husb, Alaskan king crab salad. Shared a crab cake app. Me, just straight up Stonies (7 medium). Was so grateful to get a go out! So rude of me. Our server was wonderful and our sea dishes great. I was so happy to have a treat. Thank you to all that are trying to/hoping to work through this. Joe's can be a great treat. I have three little Stonies waiting for me tonight.
  13. Going into Joe's today. The kids have a snow day, they have not been out to a restaurant forever. Lot's of places closed Monday lunch and wanted to make sure we had safe spacing. Hope it is good. Anyone try the fried chicken? I am steering the girls to kids filets or sharing a dover sole.
  14. Got back from last weekend. Stayed in a house because we were six (four adults and two kids), but the town houses will work just fine. Packed up food, water and wine, board games and cards. We did do one lunch out and all our dinners out. Coming down to the Tavern (lunch), it kind of just smells like hamburger meat, not my fave. The burgers are huge. (I am kinda pesc) But you are in a ski resort type area and gotta roll with it. Barraloto, little one said her pasta with meatballs was too sweet, she went with gnocchi the second time and seemed better off. (oops if I ate too much garlic bread). Their pizza worked out, tough my hub and my mom's partner ordered the same they got two completely different things. We did okay at the meat restaurant, there was a special of short ribs my husband liked, not sure what my mother ordered. Lautrec was lovely. It was so nice to get to a formal dinner after so long. The wine prices are high. They were very gracious to give us a tour on their original Lautrec art Well- you can drive there, my place was lovely, you can ski and beginners can work with that mountain. I would pack morning and midday food, just because COVID has made it heard to serve at these times and the ski lodge it too close for comfort. May be back soon
  15. Since travel is so restricted and they have lots of nice prepared food, Rodman's is a bit of a vacation spot for me! I only go during the week, so I cannot say how well it works for a COVID comfort zone on the weekend. I get Ethiopian bean dishes, Indian dishes, sometimes some sausages, ready to make spatzle, . Wine. There is so much you can get done there, produce is a bit sparse. I usually get a bit giddy in that space.
  16. Bethesda Curry House Palaak Panneer I bought at Rodmans and some farmer's market apple. I just eat with cravings!
  17. Years ago I would get fresh sliced from Whole Paycheck. Would then make tonnato sauce for it- so not really sure how low sodium when I got done with it! But at the time I was purchasing it, it did not have that pressed turkey feel. Not sure how things are these days, but it was good back then.
  18. We go to the one in Palisades. Lamb shank in herbs keep me pretty darn happy. Lamb cooked slow can be a bit indestructible. Your chicken kebab can be a bit more sensitive. Amoo is a great for kebab. Don't really eat beef these days, but the koobideh from Amoo is super yum. Sorry for the typo. My computer lives in the kitchen and is ancient- yeah, "keeps" is what I meant. But everyone support our restaurants when you can Aracosia, Amoo, any one. BTW keep our dear city in your thoughts tomorrow. All our downtown friends will have to close for the next couple of days. Hope we can give them a boost when this passes.
  19. Oh no!! If things for the industry were not bad enough. Not really a prayer person, but prayers for all of Green Almond. They are a fantastic group.
  20. Macarthur- I just had the fish taco last time with the salad side. Pretty much ate the inside of the taco with the salad. Snacked on my kids beans. It's easy and local. Usually I grab some candy from the convenience store in the same center. Wander over to the Co-op to see what is there.
  21. Not at weekend brunch, but if you call, otherwise always available. All other meals available. Fiola Mare has a whole bronzino and a whole dover sole. Black Salt will cook anything from the market to order. If they are willing to make it why does your dining partner care if it is on the menu are not. If you call ahead for special requests, you dont look like a prima donna
