  1. Amada, Zahav, Dizengoff jump immediately to mind. https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/
  2. Re-reading the Galileo Grill thread was a pleasure yesterday after a long day at work. Thanks for the memory tickler!
  3. pjnewman and his +1, turbogrrl, and me and my +1 all had a lovely time at the HH. The rest of you missed out. :-(
  4. Looks like if you reboil it, should be safe. http://www.thekitchn.com/soup-left-out-overnight-is-it-still-safe-to-eat-178685
  5. I'll be the short bald guy wearing black jeans and a green polo, and giving the staff a hard time. Will try to be there promptly at 5.
  6. Good idea! I imagine these lists will also be driven by location - e.g., my most visited places are going to be in central MoCo because I live in Potomac. Grapeseed - sigh A&J/Bob's Shanghai/China Bistro/Peter Chang's/East Pearl/New Fortune/Iron Age/Riverside Hot Pot/Niwano Hana - ok, cheating, but I don't want Asian to be most of my top 10. Pizza CS/CSNY - disclaimer, my kid is working there for the summer, but we were regulars from the start anyway. Spice Xing/Bombay Bistro - Sudhir Seth's modern Indian, or KN Vinod's classic Indian? Kinship/Metier - our go-to for birthdays and other special occasions Corduroy - the other go-to (with the occasional drop-in at Baby Wale) The Classics - food is great, of course, but sitting at the bar with Elliott or Nick is a great way to spend an evening. Fishnet/Drift - the go-to when visiting the kid in College Park, or our choice when in Shaw Dino's - the other choice when in Shaw. Taqueria La Placita - on the way to DC United games at RFK. Though I suppose this will fall off the list next year when they have the new stadium.
  7. Don, you just resurrected a thread with one response, nearly 12 years after. Must be a record for the site, no?
  8. Try Kakuro puzzles instead for math-related puzzles.
  9. I'm also going to be there tonight - 4-top with wife and 2 teens. Say hi if you go!
  10. The lobster french toast is probably too rich for a single person to have as an appetizer. I've had it split between 2 or 3, and that worked well.
  11. If you search on Instagram for #danielandedith2017 you should see bunches of pictures taken by our guests.
  12. Thanks! There were two full tables of friends we made courtesy of this website, so special thanks to you, Rocks, and we wish you could have joined us.
  13. Sabai Sabai is a gem - definitely one of the better Thai places in the metro area.
  14. Without traffic, I'm 20 minutes from Classics and 30+ from Ray's. We're at Classics a lot more than Ray's these days, but there's not a significant difference. Classics has the bistro menu, and the entree salads and burgers. Ray's has the specialty dry aged cuts. But they both have the core steaks, spinach/mashed, apps, bisque, etc. If I lived significantly closer to one, not a huge reason to make a longer trip to the other.
  15. Too late I think, but consider Grapeseed next time. Not only can you get bar seating, you can also sit at the kitchen counter. Traditional app/entree menu, and while they are seafood focused, there's always a steak on the menu. And super easy drive from you.
  16. I think the writer, and half the commenters, read this thread first...
  17. Ah, that's what went in the old Fu Shing space. ETA: Just looked it up - holy crap that was about 6 years ago it closed!
  18. If you're considering Batik for dumplings, IMO, better off at one of the Rockville Chinese restaurants such as Bob's Shanghai or China Bistro.
  19. Why not come a couple miles further south and hit one of the amazing Chinese places in Rockville?
  20. This is pretty much the reason CP restaurants are closing in record numbers. Petworth/Columbia Heights/Shaw/etc are all hot dining spots, and a lot of these diners used to head to CP frequently. It's easily solvable - just add some parking and drop the rents a bit, but as long as there are chains willing to take those spots at the current rate, or landlords willing to sit on vacancies, this will only accelerate.
  21. I think about 3-4 years ago, GG was *better* than most of the good places in Rockville, but has since slipped a notch. It's still on my list of places to hit in the area, and I still unreservedly recommend it to locals, but there have been enough weak spots on my meals in the last couple of years that I'm not usually willing to make a special trip here.
  22. Last plug for the show with the final weekend upcoming. Shows Fri/Sat at 8p and Sunday at 2p, $20. 'Curious Savage' takes an amusing venture into insanity - Baltimore Sun Review: ‘The Curious Savage’ at Laurel Mill Playhouse - DC Metro Theater Arts
