  1. We are headed here this weekend, not my choice. I looked in the Washington, DC dining guide to do a little research and didn't see Graffiato listed. I then realized they recently opened in Richmond and therefore they are now listed in the Multiple Locations section. Just curious as to where the line is drawn to consider someplace as having multiple locations or is there none.
  2. Heading to a BBQ this weekend and we were assigned cornbread. No time to make this weekend so looking for some place to purchase. Anyone have suggestions for someplace to pick up a decent version.
  3. New restaurant coming to Cabin John from the owners of Persimmon and Wild Tomato. Taking over the now closed My Sushi location.
  4. Stopping in Beaufort for 1 night before our annual week stay in Hilton Head - any suggestions for dinner.
  5. After an afternoon of walking around Union Market and some oysters at Rappahanock the Wife and I grabbed the last two seats at the chefs table Saturday night. I enjoyed the ash on the butter and thought it was a nice change. On the other hand my wife did not enjoy it at all and in fact asked for some plain butter which they were happy to bring. Our only other experience was the rooftop so it was nice to get a different view of things especially watching the kitchen staff hum along. Despite being there less than 2 months ago most of the things on the menu were new. When we left around 7:00 they were telling people the wait was over 2 hours.
  6. I now see they are offering home delivery of their gelato - 4 pints for $60 (ouch!). Well at least the shipping is free.
  7. Tried snaking my self and with a plumber to no avail. They are buried under a stone patio - don't have the time or know how to reset paver stones.
  8. We will be in the Sherwood Forest (just outside Annapolis on Severn River) area this weekend visiting friends. Never been in this area before but would like to pick up some crabs on Sunday to bring home for a little family feast. Any recommended spots nearby for blue crabs?
  9. All of our downspout extensions were buried by the previous owners and I suspect done incorrectly as evidenced by the issues we are having now with the lines backing up and not draining correctly. We have had a few people out who have offered elaborate and expensive solutions ($7,500) to fix the issues. I have been trying unsuccessfully to get some additional estimates but have only become more frustrated as people don't show up, don't call back or call back only to say they are too busy. Can anyone recommend either a landscaper or basement waterproofer who might be able to help us out. We are located in Bethesda.
  10. We hit up Hanks on Hill today before some shopping at Eastern Market and low and behold they had Salt Ponds. My Dad has been raving about them for awhile now and I have to say I really enjoyed them.
  11. Three locations of Blaze Pizza set to open over the next six months. The company's first D.C. area location will be in Westfield's Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, MD. Additional locations in College Park, MD (adjacent to the University of Maryland campus) and Laurel, MD (Town Center Shopping Center) are also set to open this year and will be announced soon.
  12. Met Bethesda, the new concept by Boston restaurateur Kathy Sidell, is the latest restaurant to announce a lease at the new addition to the Westfield Montgomery mall.
  13. Crave, a restaurant that specializes in sushi, wine and American cuisine, is the latest eating establishment to announce plans to be part of Westfield Montgomery mall's new Dining Terrace. Bethesda will be the first venture into the Mid-Atlantic region for Crave, which has nine locations in the Midwest, Florida and Texas.
  14. Looks like they are opening another location in the old Palisades Pizza and Clam spot on MacArthur Blvd. Saw the liquor license application posted in the window.
  15. We were at the Rooftop this past Saturday and it was incredible. We were a party of 8 and it seemed to me that it would be a bit tight for 10 people. It truly feels like you are at a dinner party with friends. Service was spectacular and we all agreed the food was some of the best we have ever had. We even ended up taking some leftovers home. For example we could not finish the ribs so they turned them into sandwiches with cole slaw, perfect lunch the next day. The menu must have been at least 12 courses, I lost count. It was a mix of current items on the menu and some of their past hits including the popcorn soup and fried chicken. We started out the night with some homemade challah bread - holy crap was it good. Some other items on the menu that we were served oysters, crab claws, lychee salad, grilled asparagus, gnocchi, ribs and so on. Wish I had taken better notes but we were celebrating a few different things and the wine was flowing. Not an inexpensive night especially with the wine but a night we all agreed we would not soon forget.
  16. Beer Wine and Co tweeted that they are getting 15 cases delivered this afternoon.
  17. Has anyone had any luck finding this in the area? Rodman's tweeted today that they had 12 bottles but expected them to be gone in an hour. I may stop by on my way home from work but don't have much faith in any being left.
  18. Rodman's tweeted this morning that they just received some. I happened to be in the Frederick area over Memorial Day and stopped by Flying Dog and got a growler. It's a nice beer but definitely not worth the hype. Mussel Bar Bethesda also just tapped a keg of it.
