  1. Another 15% and they will cost what they do elsewhere. (disclaimer- I have never shopped for wine at "Whole Paycheck", just food- once.)
  2. I have a friend who calls this the greatest defensive play in the history of the game. I have a hard time coming up with something else given the import of this one.
  3. You made your point and I disagree. Golden State should certainly be the co-favorite at this point (with Cleveland) but I'll take the Cavs in a 7 game series given both teams being healthy. I just don't think Durant adds anything to the Warriors mix that they actually needed- he plays shorter and softer than he is despite being clearly the most gifted scorer in the game. The ball also tends to stop when it rotates to him and this is something an unselfish team like the Warriors will not appreciate after a while. If Durant had not pulled an all time choke job in game 6 of last year's OKC/GS series (stopped the ball rotation and jacked up bad shot after bad shot) the Warriors wouldn't have made the finals last year. It's nice to be able to disagree over something as harmless as basketball at this point.
  4. I disagree that they are better suited to playoff basketball- they will still live and die by the 3 pointer and Durant has not really shown a "clutch gene" to this point in his career. Both the Rockets and the Cavs are currently making 3 pointers at a greater rate per game than the Warriors btw. I think the difference is that even though the Cavs have bought into the outside in offense they are not outside only- they can crank up the defense and rebounding a couple notches beyond the Warriors (and they still have the best player in the world).
  5. Ummm... the same team that beat them last year when (imo) the Warriors were better? Scoring remains only a portion of a game rather than the whole enchilada. The Warriors were better defensively and on the boards last year unless Durant has gotten an infusion of toughness or willingness to play in the paint. Teams have had more time to figure out the Warriors as well- strategy in sports is not static.
  6. I am a pretty good cook and I feel like my appreciation of eating out has actually increased as I have become more skillful in the kitchen. I am more capable of recognizing the difference between a good meal and a great meal due to having at least a modicum of skill myself. My rule for eating out for the most part is that i don't order dishes which I can prepare well myself. ...and heck yes you boil the noodles first!
  7. My family were dairy farmers for years before switching to just beef a couple years back. I have eaten plenty of Holstein in my time but those would've all been roughly year old steers rather than retired dairy cattle. Fat content is lower than angus for sure as they are bred to make fat-laden milk rather than fat-laden meat. Flavor is pretty much the same otherwise when comparing cattle of similar age and diet. An older cow would certainly be a bit tougher and possibly more "gamey" so the need to age it makes sense. Given a choice of Holstein and angus I would take angus every time. (Beef only needs to be 50% angus to be salable as angus btw so more of you have likely eaten at least partially dairy cow meat than you think.)
  8. Does it really count as going somewhere if you don't lift your face from your phone the entire time you are there? IMO the Pokemon zombies may even have a decreased appreciation for the monuments, sculptures, etc as they are trivialized into treasure hunt sites rather than being noted for what they are. I almost ran over 2 kids in an industrial park on bicycles with their noses stuck in their phones yesterday. Tragedy is an inevitable offshoot of this game.
  9. Weird sidenote- back in the 80's I went to purchase tickets to Steve Winwood (when you actually had to go to a box office to buy them) for my girlfriend and I and bought literally the single last ticket to the show- asked for 2, could only get one. Obviously someone gets the last ticket to any sold out show but it has always struck me as weird. Upcoming: Buzzcocks at 9:30 in September. I believe one of 5 shows this side of the Atlantic.
  10. Mushrooms in the wild feed off of organic (small o) material at hand- often wood- different substrates for different types of mushrooms. Oyster mushrooms for example like poplar logs a whole lot. (Oysters are the only ones I am confident enough to forage. The poplar is a giveaway and they have no local doppelgangers.) The fact that your mushrooms were Organic (big o) probably has nothing to do with their deterioration unless non-Organic mushrooms are treated in some fashion after harvest to preserve them which I don't think is the case. Produce (plants not fungi) grown on natural fertilizers in general will have a longer shelf life than stuff grown on a pure nitrogen drip because it does not grow as quickly and develops thicker cell walls in doing so.
  11. All of the actual mushroom growers I have ever seen sell in paper bags not plastic. Pure speculation on my part but they probably need a bit of air. Fresh mushrooms in general are going to deteriorate fairly quickly though.
  12. You are presuming they will be wide open all the time. Durant and ball movement have not exactly been synonymous to this point and if Durant were not busy clanking threes in Game 6 of the Western Finals last year the Warriors were dead to rights there. They will also clearly not be as good defensively or on the boards without Bogut/Ezeli. They will certainly be the favorites next season (and likely beyond).
  13. Hopefully they will find a way to lose, same as Lebron,Wade, and Bosh the first year. Live by the jump shot, die by the jump shot still applies (probably even moreso than before) and the league will catch up to small ball to a degree. (Durant plays way smaller than he is)
  14. Separation betwixt the "p" and "a". Bumpass mailing address covers a huge area. Metro Bumpass is near the post office, sawmill and store. (according to me at least)
  15. We used to reside in metropolitan Bumpass, VA. DMV actually separated it into 2 words on Deanne's driver's license.
  16. I don't think it was baseless- sort of a monthly achievement award for Draymond. He should have been suspended against OKC in which case the Warriors would be playing golf right now instead of basketball.
