Bangers and Mash based around chicken-basil "bangers" my friend obtained from a vendor at the Freedom Plaza (?) farmers market (somewhere around that area). I cheated. I used Giant pre-made redskin garlic "mash". But I did make a nice Onion Gravy with two sweet onions, a cube (sorry, "tablet") of Maggi beef flavor, pinch of sage, salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, sugar. Hey, it was a school night, I had to cut corners! It was gloriously delicious!

No, but the produce section is so compact in the WF near me that you can't help but be in close proximity to the shuckees. Fortunately, the only corn on the cob I've had this year was brought to me by a friend from my hometown in upstate NY....Hurley Flats corn....best in the universe!

I'm used to seeing people making sure they get every penny's worth by pulling back a bit of the husk (I don't, if I get a bad one, I throw it out, big deal), but I was in a Whole Foods recently, and there was a woman shucking corn. I mean every bit of husk! I was tempted to ask her if she was going to cook it in the store too!

Over the weekend I grilled the pack of Chicken Bratwurst w/Dried Apple that I had scored at the Falls Church Farmers Market over charcoal on an old Weber. Dee-lish!!!! Can't wait to get more of his product!

I need to inspect things from T.J. Maxx a bit more closely. A couple weeks ago I bought some cute cordial glasses, no broken ones in the box, check. Got them home and ran them thru the dishwasher. After they were clean, I took them out and wondered why water kept coming off them. Well, they have that air bubble in the bottom of the stem like la lot of manufactured glassware does. Only thing is, they didn't close the bubble on the bottom completely, so they have this "hidden" water that you have to deal with. They're in the donation box now.

Well, there's one way to lose weight! Don't think we'll see a Nutraloaf Truck prowling the streets soon....or will we? You know, with the right marketing...

Eat Wonky, DC Food Truck
MsDiPesto replied to goodeats's topic in Washington DC Restaurants and Dining
Well, sure, you're paying for the ambiance and the chance to show that...hey, I'm actually eating from a truck! Just like the cool kids!! Either that, or it's a really, really, really, really, really good hot dog. -
I had a successful mid-morning foray to the FC market this past Saturday. Saw a couple friends, and purchased fresh fettucini and Stachoski Brand Lamb Merguez, which became pasta with Lamb Merguez Bolognese that evening. Yum. Didn't see many ripe tomatos, but did get some green zebras. Oh, and a couple of crab cakes.

I've seen it in the Lee-Harrison location (Which I refer to as "plaza of the angry yuppie", the parking lot is ridiculous). I used to be able to get it at the Barcroft (VA) store, but alas, no more.

Terrifying Attempts to Improve Popular Foods

So that's why my instant ramen always tastes funny! -
I saw the last part of that last night, thought it was a total yawn.

Check out the "Mural of Flavor" blend. You can make fantastic sauteed carrots with it, and it lends itself quite harmoniously to any variety of dishes. Their Adobo seasoning kicks a lot of things up out of the ho-hum category too.

Are you referring to the organic Heinz, or the run-of-the-mill, generic Heinz?

Incidents like that can result in flights of imagination involving an unnatural act with a sno-cone.

Glad they're in a closer location to my place than 7 corners, but the parking there is atrocious.

Oh, good, I never feel like going all the way out to the FFX location, this will be right on the way home. How's parking? I'm trying to picture that area. Thx for posting that menu. On edit: Never mind, I Google mapped it and saw the postage stamp parking lot, looks like the surrounding streets will do for a quick take out.

I had to go back and make sure you were still talking about the food here and not the clientele. >insert rim shot here<

I had a cat (Jello Biafra) that thought the perfect way to wake me was to sneeze directly into my face, sometimes followed by hooking my cheek face with a claw. Be glad you're just getting the butt show.

I don't suppose there'll be blood sausage at the farmers market?
