  1. The custom bag I have came from Reload. Take a look at their site as they build backpacks as well. These are waterproof, bulletproof and durable. http://www.reloadbags.com/default.asp
  2. I have messenger bags from Timbuk2, Chrome, and a custom bag I received as a gift. Though I love the bags, the Chrome and Custom bag are too heavy for daily use unless you are truly a messenger.
  3. Pleasant dinner at Addies last night. Both Addies mussels and fried Oysters were as good as I remembered. Also shared seared scallops and an Addies salad, both very good. Overall one of the better places in Rockville/Potomac/Call-it-what-you-want area. Very large place, I hope they get a good lunch crowd so they stay in business as I am sure rent is high and build out wasn't cheap.
  4. All good suggestions. I will check out and call Bistro Provance. Thai-we have lemongrass which is good Chinese-good idea though nothing I crave for Pizza-we have Vin909 and Grapes which both have good flatbreads. Not pizza but I had enough pizza growing up in Brooklyn Chicken is interesting but we do have one place and easy enough to throw on the grill. Indian-Returned for the 3rd time to Royal Karma in Edgewater. Superb. Reading the responses on a Friday evening, drinking wine and cooking dinner made me realize I don’t go out that much.
  5. Planning to spend a few days this July in Bordeaux. Will probably engage a guide for 2 days and then spend a day in town. Any and all recommendations are welcome. Looking at this as an opportunity to learn and taste the right and left banks as well as see chateaus and eat well. Will spend the last night in Paris, it seems there are plenty of suggestions on where to dine there.
  6. Logrono is the Tapas capital of Spain, highly recommended. The Guggenheim in Bilbo was great. We stayed in Rioja for several days so Bilbo was a day trip. Barcelona was great, nightclubs stay open all night. Spain has great food, wine, art and architecture.
  7. At the end of the month I will no longer have any roots in Montgomery County. Will be living in Annapolis full time and a hotel in Tyson twice a week so the commute doesn't kill me. Are there any places I should eat at in Moco before I depart?
  8. Eatonville left me with a great memory from 2014. About 4 days after hip surgery we went to Eatonville as my son was living close by. I took it like a trooper as this was my first long car ride and I was off painkillers and hadn’t had a drink. I remember ordering a drink and they brought me a pitcher on the House. They told me I needed it from the expressions I was making.
  9. Sorry I missed this, haven’t been to Galaway. Level, Dry85, Foxes Den are all solid in downtown Naptown.
  10. Ebbtide in Annapolis is highly recommended. Burger is great, place is a dive.
  11. Truly agree I have relatives who live in Spring Lake NJ and think everything in their town is better. From the best seafood to the bagels. My SIL was not amused when I asked their fish monger where the swordfish was from. Advertised as local, that is North Carolina local.
  12. After visiting many wine regions in France, Spain and Italy, Napa and Sonoma are still at the start of their Journey. The local wines have a lot of group to catch up. Memories of a man whose only job at Muga in Rioja was to separate egg whites and yolks. The whites are used to fine their wines. Same method has been used for 300-400 years.
  13. It will be surely missed. Wondering if this was caused by following a flawed business formula. All of the Ray's permutations are popular, who doesn't like a great piece of meat. But they all seem to suffer from business issues. I once owned a software company and had a similar problem. We had 100+ staff, sales were growing and I could never figure out if we were making a profit.
  14. If you do not have a microwave, how do you reheat leftovers. I cook on a 60” wolf range with a French cooktop. And yes i cook those eggs. But last nights Brussels are in the microwave at this moment reheating.
  15. I bought a piece of Jack Fruit and I was so intimidated that it rotted before I dug in. Saw too many videos of oiling my hands and knife to get the fruit out.
  16. In Annapolis the best burgers are in non-chain local places such as Davis's pub(Sailor's dive), Ebbtide(Local Dive), Grumps(stuffed with Bacon), Lures(beer selection). The chains come and go but do not seem to be killing it. I think we just got a Cali Burger fairly positive I'll never go. Ebbtide offer 3 types of fires; regular; curly and tots. Add cheap beer and no windows, not much more one needs.
  17. Another great dinner at Grapes this past Saturday night. met some friend and they were thrilled with both the Sancerre and the whipped goat cheese appetizer. Followed it up with another bottle of wine and small plates of Ciopino well priced at $15 for the bowl. This is close to my house, never disappoints and they know me by name.
  18. Never got the lobster as the swells to Anegada were too big. Great sailing but much destruction. Dining and drinking were mainly done onboard.
  19. Heading off the grid for a week where I will be chartering a catamaran in the BVIs. Itinerary is flexible depending on winds though hoping to get to Anegada for Spiny Lobster. Dining options will be limited due to hurricane damage but I'm sure we will make do and several of the popular watering holes such as the Soggy Dollar and Pirate Bight are back open. I'll be sure to report back but if you have ever dreamed about this feel free to ask questions.
