  1. Our favorite champagne by far. A great one to give, receive and drink. I always have a bottle chilled and a few in the cellar.
  2. First time here last night and was very pleased. Seeing so many ducks carved around us forced our hand as newbies. The duck was great. We also had Mongolian pork while not cheap was well prepared and a huge portion. This is not cheap Chinese food but the service was exceptional. Waiter prepared and served our 1st duck pancake as well as provided fresh plated and serves our pork dish. Needless to say I'll be back.
  3. Used to shop at Costco for over 15 years, switched to Sam's when I move the Annapolis. Biggest difference is the Scan and Go phone app. I walked into Sam's, scan the items with my phone and press Pay when I walk out. Saves huge amounts of time and allows me to go to Sam's 15 minutes before they close or at the busiest times and get out unscathed. No sure why Costco doesn't offer a similar app, but in this case Sam's rules.
  4. There is at least one place in Annapolis where I am a regular. Staff know me, my preferences, etc. They will usually pour me a taste of wine they think I'd like. I will regularly run into neighbors and friends, easy to do in Annapolis as it's small town USA. I'll also stop by if a see a special entrée or menu posted on social media.
  5. I used to live close by. There are far worse bagels, these are fine.
  6. How does 3 Brothers pizza stack up. They are in Laurel? I've never eaten there but have heard its reasonable and crowded.
  7. Sheet Pan dinner. Chicken Thighs, Brussels Sprouts and Fingerling Potato's. All roasted for an hour. Superb,
  8. No idea but I dug too. Probably do take in to hotel so I can have wine. A meal without wine isn't a meal.
  9. Ate here last night as I'm living Tues-Thurs in the Sheraton next door. Place was jammed, food was great and we were stuffed for $35 This defines great cheap eats. Wife had the Salmon while I have the ground beef kabobs. I thought my kebobs had better flavor while her rice was different and better. Both dishes came with something that seemed like rice burnt a bit on the bottom of a pan, I liked it and she didn't. As I'm living next door 2 days/week for the next year and possibly the next 7 years-This will be in the regular rotation.
  10. Instant pot Pork Chili Verde. Note to self that pork cubes will become pork mush when steamed to long. Tasty but need to follow directions. Not sure it is really cooking if I can't interact and watch it along the way.
  11. Chefs tasting menu at Grapes last night. The chef is killing it with a kitchen that seems smaller then the one in my house. This is a wine bar first and is your friendly neighborhood bistro with great wine an delicious food. Deviled eggs 4 way was a great starter. Classic, with Roe, Lobster and great. All great presentations. Branzino on a bed of quinoa. Fish perfect, quinoa bright. Paired with a Chianti, superb. Lamp Chops with white Asparagus, spinish reduction. Paired with a Gigonda. Great. Great meat 90 pp including pairings. This is a gem. Friendly. Run into neighbors, know the staff, type of place.
  12. My son lives in the Ballston/Clardeon area. Uber is his parking solution.
  13. I generally do not pour any additional or new wines for the cheese course unless I know it will be appreciated. The Coravin makes it a whole lot easier to get a sip of desert wine or finish up with a something I know a guest will really enjoy.
  14. The Aslin beer garden is huge.. In fact I'm planning to go there for the beer, forget the Nats game. Aslin has many styles of Dry Hoped IPA beers, if you haven't had one you should. Huge flavor profiles though they tend to the higher range of Alcohol, 7-12%.
  15. The parking garages in Bethesda are killer. Going both directions on the same ramp bring a new meaning to the parking experience. Funny that a fried of mine is head on Montgomery County parking garages.
  16. Dinner Tuesday was excellent. Had the eggplant with peppers mentioned above , Bhel Puri (my go to appetizer) and a lamb dish my wife picked out. All great, no leftover and could not have eaten a drop more. Also had a garlic naan, Onion and Pepper salad and a bottle of Riesling. Service was excellent and the meal was a notch or two above most Indian restaurants in the area. Thanks all for the recommendation.
  17. Going tonight. Per Don's recommendation as my last dinner in Moco. What to order? It all seems good.
  18. Drink pouches seems nuts. Do people really need bad drinks on a hot summer day. Sounds like they will have more craft beer choices, which is always a good thing. Personally, I don't think about Baseball until the Stanley Cup is awarded.
  19. This place was hopping on a Sunday night. Steady stream of patrons and many tables were turned over again and again. We both had kabobs which was great along with the salads mentioned above. The salads alone were great, eggplant, beet and pickles were my favorites. We ordered a hummus appetizer which was just OK, not as good as the homemade hummus a friend make. The bargain of the night was the wine. 15$ for a bottle of Cabernet, Kosher no less. It was pleasant and certainly worked with the food. A treasure in Montgomery county. My wife thought the grilled chicken livers were outstanding. I'll stick to more traditional kabobs.
  20. I spent an afternoon in Napa with Dennis Johns Now at Round Two http://www.roundtwowines.com/ and previously making wines all over Napa for 30 or 40 years. His Philosophy is exactly what Mark says above, "an ugly child can't get beautiful with age. The wine should taste great now and taste great later". One of my best wine experiences as my wife and myself sat with Dennis in his house for several hours drinking wine and soaking up his philosophy. Not available here, I do order Round Two wines to drink and cellar.
