  1. I recommend Old Line meats in Baltimore.. Call 1st http://oldlinemeats.com/about.html
  2. Charleston could be the best restaurant in Maryland and on of the top in this region. We dined there Friday night and it was spectacular. Amazing attention to detail, service was on point and the food, wine and presentation were all world class. Cindy Wolf, executive chef, was there as quarterback and expediter making sure every plate that left the kitchen was as she envisioned. Started off with a glass of Sancerre while allowing a bottle of 2012 Chateau Canon to breathe. Great wine service, all proper stemware with a Sommelier who was both engaging, attentive and informative. We each had 4 courses. Possibly could have done with 3 as dessert is included. No room for the Cheese course though the cart looked lovely with a selection of 12 cheeses I started off with the Lobster Curry Soup. Amazing Followed with a sublime crab flan. Amazing Alaskan Cod with lemon and Onion beignets. Spicy, very interesting. Yummy Veal Tenderloin. Matched perfectly with the last two glasses of Bordeaux. Dessert- Chocolate Pot De Crème. perfect Very nice place with great space between table. They actually iron the tablecloths when changing them out, as well as give you a fresh linen each time you get up. Though no enforced dress code, everyone was dressed up. This is special dining. Cindy Wolf has been a Beard runner up several times. She should win. This is great dining. If you haven't been, go.
  3. Going Friday! Perhaps the toughest decision is wine pairing vs a bottle or two. I'll be taking an Uber from Annapolis, while not cheap, is prudent given that I'll already be starting our anniversary off with Billecart Salmon Champagne before we leave the house.
  4. In 2010 my son received an award from the JCC Rockville for being a scholar athlete. The road of the crowd was deafening when they announced it was catered by Ben's from NY. The food was great thought it may be every 10 years that I'm able to consume such quantities of Jewish deli and side dishes.
  5. Amazing, given that Anne Arundel county will not let me put a boathouse on my existing dock. Anne Arundel is anti-development, the opposite of Tysons and Reston.
  6. 10-20 years ago Uncle Julio's was in my kids wheelhouse. Who can resist a huge plate of fajitas. I remember that once a week they had goat leg, Cabrito, which was amazing. I think that ship sailed. Haven't been in a long time but they recently opened up in Annapolis. Will have to go soon.
  7. I went to an event at Mess Hall, "Some Disassembly required", where a hog was broken down and butchered. It was a fun evening with great food to eat and take home as well. http://messhalldc.com/events/ https://brightestyoungthings.com/articles/recap-some-disassembly-required-mess-hall
  8. Good to know. Their crabcakes are great though the place is old school. Very much in the style of the Edgewater Inn, whose cakes were highly regarded but very old and dated.
  9. I would add Brewster’s to the list. I know the location in Annapolis never disappoints and that there are several in DMV area. Each individually owned and make their own ice cream.
  10. From Ackerman Alarm I was given a Skybell(Similar to Ring) at a cost of $1 month for 36 months. After 36 months the device will either be vastly outdated or need replacement. I ws going to buy a ring but this deal seems much better. I get video and audio on demand when motion detected or the doorbell is pressed, video and audio is recorded and I can initiate as well from a mobile device.
  11. I would second Shamshiry. Fast, a few steps above Moby and close to Wolf Trap. I live at the Sheraton Tues-Thurs and Shamshiry has never disappointed.
  12. You were absolutely right about clarity. Small but great selection of happy hour beverages and nibbles. Victor is a gem of a bartender and I can't wait to go back for a proper cocktail. We sat at the bar at 6:15 and the place was slammed by 7pm.
  13. Recently was in London and a highlight was the Quilon. Perhaps London's finest Indian restaurant. http://www.quilon.co.uk/ Located in the Westminster area we treated ourselves to the 5 course Seafood tasting menu. We started with a Ginger, Coconut and crab soup then moved on to the middle three courses. Each course consisted of 3-5 sub courses each about two to three bites. Phenomenal and then some. This was amazing.. They have received one Michelin star in the past and the food and service are in line with this award.
  14. Go again. I have always had great meals here and have never heard anything less then stellar. Not just a Baltimore gem but an DMV/East coast gem.
  15. It has its place. Can do duty as crock pot, pressure cooker, etc. Definitely useful but not life changing.
  16. Glad you enjoyed. Both Dry85 and Red Red Wine are owned by same team though the libations differ. Annapolis should be in the summer rotation for everyone on this list and there is good dining choices there as well.
  17. Dry85 and Red Red Wine, are two decent Annapolis establishments which opened up in Ocean City. I'll never cross the bay bridge but the Annapolis locations are always good.
  18. Have you taken any WSET classes or similar? Thoughts Looking at starting a wine based business when I retire to combine passion of wine, food and travel.
  19. Ate here last night with my wife and son. My son who had never eaten Vietnamese food ordered after discussing with server. Not sure what we had but the three dishes were great including one of the signature rice paper dishes where you make your burrito. we did ours with beef. Place was rocking so that we had a 10 minute wait for a table at 730. We will definitely put it into our rotation as son lives close by in south Arlington and we stay in Tysons Tuesday and Wednesday nights,
