  1. It is really pretty in here! I had an incredible craving for bingsoo, and having tried Shilla and Breeze's, I thought I would try here. Complete date night atmosphere--highly recommend for those who are keen on intimate, cosy, warm color type of places. Bingsoo can be to-go! I didn't want to be a solo diner tonight, so I took one green tea bingsoo home (rice powder, condensed milk, fruit, green tea ice cream, shaved ice). It was a bit steep at $8.50 pre-tax compared to the other two bakeries, but I really enjoyed this rendition. It was a nice way to ending my shopping excursion at the new Goodwill store behind Jukebox Diner. I would be happy to try their cakes or off the menu one night.
  2. Woohoo! Simul-pic time!! No cheats from FB post! Bonus if you can guess where the words, "Yummy, yummy! In my tummy!...there's a party in my tummy!" came from. :-)
  3. ^ I would venture combination of heat and amount of water. I've not trusted those tabs ever since I tried them and now use exclusively the Harris Teeter store brand dishwasher powder. It's worked great and mostly soda ash, so enviro-friendly. :-)
  4. Nope. The winner! It was their Roasted Turkey, but without the peppers, which might have thrown someone off. The crispy chicken skin really made my day!
  5. I am swooning over my lunch! Should be pretty easy to guess, though.
  6. After much stomach grumbling last night, I decided that last night was the night that I was finally going to try this place. I am very glad I did, as the palak paneer really hit the spot. The nice thing is that an order is enough for two, so I have leftovers for work today. I think this is a solid place that is good to be put on the "carryout rotation," although I can't say their naan is all that worth ordering.
  7. Woohoo! Another female chef winner!! Won't spoil it but I did want to say I'm not a fan of the new finale format.
  8. I misread about the meeting part. So B&W wouldn't be a good suggestion...
  9. I've been hearing very good things about the following on one of the mom groups: Cookies to Cocktails Monster Cookie Company (especially this one!) Sugar Cookie Creations Toute Sweets I don't have a clue on pricing though. Happy early bday to your cutie-putootie!!
  10. In Georgetown, I like to go to Baked & Wired for their mini-selection of breakfast goods, but mainly for their coffee. If you are in VA, then I would venture a bit farther to Courthouse and visit Bayou Bakery for their breakfast.
  11. I didn't see it on their online menu, but can't hurt to ask. If you're inspired to make it, Fuschia Dunlop's version is pretty spot-on, with the exception of the chicken stock part... There are a few places that have it, but I can't recall where, sorry. But I love making it. Sometimes you see it as "Young Chow" on the menu...
  12. Now on the Travel & Leisure's top Chinese restaurants to visit! (Sorry--too lazy to provide link on tablet...)
  13. Daikaya's owner has a nice primer too (I hope I credited it right...): http://tasteoftravelroge.wordpress.com/2013/01/05/ramen-fine-points-and-how-to-eat-it/
  14. I would just like to say that our future Olympians/athletes-in-training (including paraolympians) deserve better food than the corporate-sponsored, non-sustainable, non-locally sourced food they are fed while training. I was very saddened by the number of processed stuff in the training center this past weekend.
  15. Well, since little man has been sick, I've been pulling out the juicer this week. First up is the aforementioned carrot juice, but accidentally out too much ginger. Will have to think of something to tone the ginger spice down... But I also tried this Kale-Cabbage-Cucumber-Pineapple combo, and it isn't so bad. Why this combo? I just saw somewhere that cabbage supposedly helps boost immune system. Will write back another day for LM's review on these....
  16. I wonder if you went on an off day? I've been several times and not had any filling be dry...
  17. It's a bit misleading, as the other topic creator didn't put "The Taste" in the topic heading. I think if CG didn't post in it, I wouldn't have known it was the same topic. Choirgirl21: it usu helps mods if you paste the topic thread so mods can merge threads faster.
  18. Ginger, apple, carrot combo has been a fave here. I can't remember if I added lemon to it or not.
  19. I actually have a juice jar that I cleaned out and pour all my leftover red wine in there. I keep it on the counter near the stove and use it when needed.
  20. I'm thinking maybe more Birch & Barley, with Cork, Estadio, Bar Pilar, etc. nearby on 14th? Even Pitago would be fun, celebrating with gelato?
