Try some of the Grotta del Sole Gragnano. I think it is the perfect pizza wine. I like mine chilled. It is available for around $10-12 retail and 2 Amy's has it on their menu for $23 a bottle.
  2. Good luck with that budget! I suggest a Nebbiolo d'Alba(meant to be drunk young) or Langhe (I believe declassified grapes)
  3. Clos de la Roilette Fleurie. Thats all I'm saying.
  4. Very good stuff, just curious about the d'yquem. That is a baby...how was it?
  5. I had the risotto today it was very good ( and at $9 it was larceny)
  6. I don't think there is any translation issue, just an unfounded belief that they are all that, sacred, high and mighty, etc. So from their POV any conceived negative slight would be considered blasphemy. ETA: I can't wait until Joe H. hears about this one!
  7. One of the wines they highlighted is on my must try list. Louis-Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernieres 2005 (Dressner)
  8. Does anybody know of a retailer that is currently carrying the Domaine Diochon Moulin à Vent (2005 preferably)?
  9. I have taken clients there a couple of times for lunch and the atmosphere is perfectly fine for a client meeting
  10. 2005 Domaine de la Mordorée, Lirac, "Reine des Bois". Deep dark purple and tight as hell with substantial tannins. Opened up nicely after two hours showing plenty of dark fruit with a peppery finish. Overall a nice wine, but I wouldn't open another one up for a couple of years.
  11. I am always ready for a challenge...If I am back from break fast by then....well, you are on my friend. This should be fun. P.S. -Maybe we can drink an overated Wine Spectator Aussie Fruit Bomb to wash it all down, sound good?
  12. Aren't the pickled daikon radish called oshinko?
  13. Speaking of Mr. Monkton, wasn't there around a 10 point differential between him and spectator for the 01 Mordoree Reine des Bois CdP?
  14. Is the CdR Belleruche available anywhere else locally besides Schneider's and Super Fresh?
  15. Well that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but I stick by my claim. I am not a wine snob that needs a bunch of $$$ wines to be impressed, but when you have about six white offerings and three are chardonnay, I am not impressed. Give me a Godello or Txakoli to go along with your Chards and your one Albarino. FYI, most of their reds are South American focused rather than Spain, IIRC.
