call a local pest control company. Not only they help you get rid off the animals but they also show you how to stop them from coming in.

Inci. The people who introduced `profiterole` to Istanbul and rest of the country in 1940`s. They are on the historic `Istiklal Caddesi` in Taksim and they have been at the same location. On a cold day, hot chestnuts smell and taste great. In the spice bazaar you will notice some funny signs such as this

Historic `Sultanahmet Koftecisi` since 1920. Same location, same recipe and same menu, same owners. They are at the 3rd generation right now. and this is `kofte`

This is `kokorec`. All lamb intestines. Tripe soup is made of cow. Definitely add a lot of vinegar and garlic and stay away from everybody the next day. Recommended very late night.

I agree with Dave, wine in Turkey is not that good. You should stick with beer or Raki. There is no problem finding any kind of booze on the streets, restaurants or hotels. Plus, there is no time restriction which means you can buy it 24 hours, 7 days. I will be going to Istanbul this Sunday and stay for 2 weeks. I was born and raised in Istanbul so I used to know a ton of good, small family run places to eat. Nowadays, my friends take me to those places since I kind of forgot most of them but there is an absolute visit to the original `Sultanahmet Koftecisi` and to the street carts which they serve charcoal tripe. There are many restaurants as well they serve the tripe soup. They are called `Iskembeci`. It is a must. You should also visit the spice bazaar and score some saffron for very cheap. Good luck during your visit. Also, don`t forget to negotiate if you are planning to buy any kind of carpet.

Del Merei Grille, Del Ray - Closed
Ferhat Yalcin replied to CrescentFresh's topic in Washington DC Restaurants and Dining
Escoffier, I am sorry you had a bad experience. Especially on a day like Christmas Eve. I have been to Del Merei couple times and always had good time and food without recognition. You say you have been visiting this restaurant since the first week it opened and until few days ago all your visits were good. I, of course, don`t know how many times you have dined there but if this is more than 3 times, IMO, this makes you a loyal person which also means that you really like this establishment and this maybe more a friendship considering you interact with the waitstaff. Now, what I don`t understand is, since you are a loyal to this restaurant, why come here and write a trashy review? Is this how you treat your other friends that you like and loyal to ? Why don`t you talk to a manager, NICELY, explaining your experience. Maybe you should have pointed out the problems that you did not like. I am sure they would have done something different to please you. On the other hand, I really don`t buy this ``if they were honest and told us the truth, we would understand, a simple apology goes a long way`` bullshit. A lot of people do not give a shit whatever the reason is. They do not care if this is Christmas eve or Christmas day. And those people are the ones most likely to write a stupid review online here, yelp, or complain to a food critic. and I bet $500 you won`t be able to memorize the menu in 15 minutes -
It`s been a great time and experience at Corduroy. I will really miss my staff, the greatest, the best and most reliable service team I ever worked with: Kyle(service director), Peter, Maureen, Amanda, Leah, Kris, Susan, John, Felix, Amanda C. (private party planner) and of course Pichan. I appreciate everything you guys have done and still do. All these people are really really hard workers and deserve the best. I wish Tom Power the best and good luck after me. He is one hell of a great Chef. My last day at Corduroy is December 31st, 2009.

I know Corduroy is open.

An effective way to deal with yelp people is simply `the manager/owner is not here and please call back on Saturday around noon or Sunday evening`. This has been working for us perfectly since we opened last year.(nobody is at the restaurant on Sundays or Saturday noon) If they can not get to you there is nothing they can do but if they realize your idea about not paying them, it becomes a problem.
