    I second (or third?) the Washington Deli suggestion. For those who prefer a lighter lunch, you can get a slice, a side salad and a soda for the same price of $6.50. A good deal, and the slices are delish! They also have awesome soups...their chicken noodle is my comfort food when I am having a shitty day at the office.

    This is my "secret spot". Right now, they've got some really delicious cold summer soups. They also serve a great breakfast!California Grill - which is around the corner from City Place on M St btw 17th and Connecticut can be good if you order the right thing. I love their cold grilled chicken breast sandwiches.

    The last two times that I've ordered a Super Grilled Cheese at Stoney's I left wondering if the cook was feeling a little stoney him or herself because my sandwich was served to me with a cold middle. There is nothing super about uneven meltage in a grilled cheese, people!! The Diner in AdMo is where I go to get my grilled cheese fix. The fries are good, too, I guess? Maybe? Honestly, I am "that girl" who subs them for a salad - so, what I really enjoy about The Diner is that the greens in my side salad are fresh, crispy and NOT ICEBERG!

    PKU is a fascinating condition, if you like to nerd-out on the subject of genetics. That said, it sounds like it would be a very difficult condition to live with in terms of a person's diet.

    If you want the true Albertos experience, it's better to order a full pie (thin crust, of course). The slices just don't do it for me. If you plan on doing delivery, keep in mind that it can take about an hour on busy weekend nights!

    I made the trip to Cantlers on Saturday evening and ended up waiting about an hour to be seated. We arrived around 5pm, and there was a huge line (20-30 mins, roughly) to get into the parking lot - yikes! Tip: send someone from your car to put your name in for a table while you wait for a parking spot. It cuts your wait-time significantly. Once we were seated, the crabs were good, corn was super-fresh and the service was great - considering that most of the servers appeared to be between the ages of 17 and 20 and the place was PACKED all evening. Those kids are workin' hard for their money! I'll definitely be back.

    I recently enjoyed a Saturday night pre-theatre meal at Bistro d'Oc, though many of the items on the menu were a little heavy and large for my tastes. I can't eat a steak and then sit through 2 hours of anything unless it involves "resting my eyes"......That said, I am on the lookout for a a pre-Hamlet meal that is on the lighter side of things. Rasika perhaps? How is that place that replaced Andale?

    Seltzer and club soda are the same thing (filtered water with CO2 added) except that club soda has minerals added to it. I drink a lot of mineral water and club soda, and as far as my tongue can tell, club soda and seltzer have bigger bubbles than sparkling mineral water like Pellegrino, Saratoga, etc. My drink of the summer has been club soda with this fabulous Stirrings grapefruit margarita mixer/juice/stuff that I got from Whole Paycheck. YUM!

    It's all about John Coltrane if I'm feeling civilized. Usually, I go for something that I can sing along to like Early Pulp, New Order (namely Technique or Substance) or some MBV. My massive collection of dance records, bootlegs and mixes also comes in handy while prepping for dinner parties, etc. I just like to throw something on, and GO! Faves include LTJ Bukem, Andy Weatherall's Nuphonic compilation or any of my FabricLive mixes.

    BURRITO CART!!! It is truly the best thing ever. It puts McMexican like Shitpolte, and even smaller spots like the Well Dressed Burrito to shame, IMO. I haven't seen it open on the weekends. In fact, the whole MacPherson/Golden Triangle area is pretty dead on Sat/Sun. As for the Mixtec comparison, I'd say that they are both good, but in different ways. A burrito cart burrito is fressssh and grease-free, and the rito-innards are more squishy than at Mixtec, if that makes sense. Also, it is worth mentioning that I have avoided my beloved Mixtec since I saw this.

    According to the HK website, one of the chefs is from Spotsylvania. I am pretty sure that he's the clown who served frozen gnocchi as his signature dish.

    I tuned into Hell's Kitchen last night, only after seeing that US Weekly gave it 3 stars. Don't laugh. Anyway, I really want to know where the hell they are finding the contestants? It's like the gimpy, social reject version of Top Chef! As much as I love bad reality tv, I am not sure that I can stomach it for a full season...I actually felt guilty for watching it.

    ohnoyoudiiii'nt! As for cheesy, gravy smothered deliciousness, I did some research because the mere mention of poutine made me hungry: According to the urban dictionary, poutine is also known as 'hobo fries' or 'disco fries' (YAY!!!), depending on your location. A related search for disco fries sent me to a link for a local spot called Plato's Diner. I nominate one of you to act as guinea pig.

    The old menu was much more adventurous, but lets be real about something: Towards the end of Wabeck's tenure, things were going downhill fast at FF. That was far more depressing to me than a new chef and a new menu.
