On a whim, what are you up to?

OK. For those of us "Left Behind":P:D (I really like "Losers", though):

I was thinking that tomorrow night might be an opportunity for some of us to meet at San Marco in Adams Morgan. As many of you know, the owners want to retire next year, so time is running out to enjoy authentic Venetian food in an inexpensive and informal setting. If enough of us get together we could come up with our own "Tasting Menu" from the regular menu offerings. Or not.

PM me if you want to do this.

This is not a big deal, and the jokes were recognized as jokes, I assure you.  The biggest mistake I made was assuming that people would cancel before the event, and that people at the top of the waiting list were shoo-ins.  Lessons were learned this time around, and next time the same mistakes won't be made, i.e, an equitable, less-urgent reservation system will be used.  Again, let me stress that nobody had any idea that this thing would sell out in one afternoon, and that everyone here is treated equally and also that we have your best interests in mind.  Cheers, Rocks.

I, for one, would like to know what mistakes were made? How else do you do something like this? It's first in time is first in right.

Yikes...sorry for upsetting, um, everyone? I was responding to a joke made by another poster to let him know he wasn't alone...didn't know it would turn into a firestorm. Personally, I still don't think there's anything wrong with being disappointed in being bumped from what is sure to be an amazing experience, but apparantly I should.

I do appreciate the amount of effort it takes to organize events and have been openly thankful for every event that I've attended.

Maybe I should just put more winking faces in every post...sigh...

:lol::P:D:D:D

Well I guess this shows the popularity of Eve. If you feel like you are missing tasting Chef Armstrong's treats, dial 703-706-0450 and make yourself a reservation in the tasting room. While not the 'special' DR.com event, his talents are worthy of trying anytime.

Sigh, it's nice to know I am appreciated and loved :P:D Thank you to those who defended my honor.

To most of you who were joking, we knew you were. But one cranky person makes it clear that sometimes we have to clarify the obvious.

You should know that I willingly took this job on and love almost every minute of planning these events. At the interview for the job I now have one of my bosses asked what outlets I have in my non-work life to relieve my stress. I laughed and told him that I organize dinners for "my dinner group" and went on to tell him the Eve dinner story. He still can't quite understand why I this is my stress releaser but he doesn't get to attend the meals and tastings I do, nor does he spend his free time with the people I do.

Trust me, if this wasn't fun or you all were acting like my ungrateful, pain-in-the-rear ninth graders I wouldn't waste my time. My skin is tough and I deal with much worse at work over issues that really are important. To me, planning and attending these meals are a luxury that none of us should take advantage.

I do appreciate the amount of effort it takes to organize events and have been openly thankful for every event that I've attended.

To those of you who actually take the time to thank me it is appreciated.

Hillvalley spent a good six hours on this, with over 100 PMs in her box.

You remember the scene in the first Harry Potter when his acceptance letters from Hogwarts started flying into the house and the Dursley's could not make them stop? That was my in-box :D We set a new PM's sent record that day by more than 100.

I'll put it out there now that I, like you, am far from perfect but will do my best to be fair. But I'm probably going to piss some of you off with these "blow out" events with number limits. Life will go on. Or at least mine will.

Thanks again for all of your kind posts. It makes putting up with the occasional nasty letter worthwhile.

Due to a policy meltdown affecting vital national security interests that I am witnessing but unable to fix I need a spirited HH this evening. Any thoughts as to where?

Those who are basking in last night's revelry at RE are excused unless they wishy to continue the party.

I say continue the party! How about we start at say, hmmm, Firefly for a change? I was also thinking about having dinner at Acadiana.

FF works for me for HH. We are drowning our sorrows -- oops, I mean welcoming some new folks to our Bureau around 4ish, but I can duck out and head over around 5.

I have tickets to a movie sneak preview (Tim Burton's Corpse Bride) tonight at the 4000 Wisconsin Cinemas.

Not wanting to eat popcorn or Taco Bell for dinner, I will be at the bar at Cafe Ole from about 5:45 to 6:45 grabbing a couple of mezze and a glass of something red. If anyone wants to swing by, I do have an extra ticket for the movie!

I'll be wearing a blue polo with my company's logo, RWD Technologies.

I am contemplating a similar plan.  First, though, I have to unload two extra tickets to the M.I.A. show at 9:30 Club.  [feel free to PM/e-mail me if interested]

Make that 'Our Lady Peace' and you've got a deal. As for me, I'm probably going to do a late happy hour at Circle Bistro (~7:00).

Abandoned by my darling husband I possess one extra ticket for tonight's Giants-Nats game (2 sections over from where Bonds hit his homer but alas in foul territory...)

We also have 2 seats for tomorrow's game (4:35) that we aren't using in Sec. 323.

Free to a good home! Will messenger and/or email them depending on which ticket(s) you want... PM/email me!

To keep it food related, I'm thinking of a hit and run raid on Sonoma before the game if I can get out of my office at a decent time tonight... What's the latest I should plan to get there to be at RFK on time?

(I will be SO glad when baseball season is over...And this is from a lifelong Cards fan...)

Minibar!

Writing to gauge interest in a possible trip to Minibar in late October. Thinking Saturday the 22nd. Have to be flexible as it might be tough to get reservations for a given day, but I'll give it a shot Friday if people want to go.

Edited for correct date: Saturday 10/22, or thereabouts

FURTHER edited: The preceeding Friday 10/21 has also been proposed. Does that change anything for anybody?

Edited some more: Ok, I'm really sorry to do this, but I was reminded that that weekend might not be so good for me due to prior committments...

How about Friday, October 28th?

Greetings kind DR folks from Connie (aka white lotus on Pacific NW eG and Mouthfulsfood.com). I am not sure if this the right place to post this so please forgive me if not. My husband Dance and I will be visiting DC with our daugher, Masumi for college visits, anti-war march, sight seeing and eating and anything else that might be fun. I have made a 12:00 noon Sunday brunch reservation @ Cafe Atlantico for ourselves, Mrs. B and Waitman. Please consider yourselves invited to join us. Sincerely, Connie

We're just drowning in extra Nationals tickets aren't we?

I've still got 2 seats for today and 2 seats for tomorrow that I can't use!

Sigh...

Jennifer, who didn't get to Sonoma last night....

6 games out with 10 to play will do that to a team. It was fun while it lasted though.

Look on the bright side - they've still got 96 years more to go to catch the Cubs for futility.

And only two more seasons until the new stadium opens with better concessions.

I would avoid downtown.  The street closings start today because of the protesting and is already crawling with cops.

What about Dino or Tempt Asian?

Looks like you finally got access!

I was at TemptAsian last night, and it was good. Dino sounds like a winner to me.
