  1. Welcome! We really enjoyed Flight when we visited. We haven't been in a while, but we were very impressed with your wine selection! We'll have to stop in soon after a Mystics game.
  2. I believe Ted Leonsis and Steve Case are among their investors. I'm very glad they opened one in Silver Spring.
  3. You are not! We go there often and we always have a great time. Sebastien & crew are always wonderful to us.
  4. It sounds like I need to get down to Banh Ta - it's been a while since we've been to Eden Center. I normally get Banh Mi from Phở Tan Vinh here in Silver Spring as it's close, but I'll definitely travel for something extraordinary.
  5. I bought my first piece of All-Clad over the holidays (stainless pan w/lid) and I often wonder why I took so long. It's fantastic.
  6. I just realized I never properly introduced myself! Hi! I'm David. My wife Jennifer & I moved to the area from our native Cleveland after she graduated Residency in 2014. I am currently making a career pivot (studying toward Cisco CCNA certification). Jennifer is a Foot & Ankle Surgeon in the area, as well as a Team Physician for the Washington Mystics. We live in Downtown Silver Spring, and we enjoy eating out as much as our schedule and finances allow. I also enjoy cooking at home; I recently acquired an Anova Immersion Circulator, and I've been having a lot of fun learning to cook Sous Vide (even more limited by a small apartment kitchen!) Our favorite restaurants that we frequent quite a bit are Masa 14 in Logan Circle and La Fromagerie in Old Town Alexandria. Our friends Ryan and Sebastien are doing great work at their respective restaurants; Ryan recently rolled out a new Chef's Tasting Menu at Masa that we enjoyed recently. He's a fellow Cleveland native that we were introduced to when he was Executive Chef at Todd English's bluezoo at Disney World. Anyway, glad to be here!
  7. After hearing a lot of buzz about Vigilante Coffee from friends, I finally made it out to their Hyattsville HQ. [Locally Wired: Vigilante Coffee by me.]
  8. We went to the inaugural service of the Luxe Chef's Tasting Counter last night, and we were impressed to say the least. We've known Chef Ryan for several years, and his talent really shines in this setting. $80pp, $125pp with wine pairings, 13 courses. Attached is our menu from last night.
  9. Chef Ryan Ratino is launching a new, 13-Course Luxe Chef's Tasting Counter starting tomorrow: Masa 14 Launches a Luxe Chef’s Tasting Counter | Washingtonian
  10. A big THANK YOU to everyone who shared this, or looked at Jennifer's CV, or offered encouragement (especially you, @DonRocks!) I'm happy to report that shortly after this post last year, she joined Foot & Ankle Specialists of the Mid-Atlantic, practicing in Downtown Silver Spring & Washington DC. She's accepting new patients, so if you're looking for a Podiatrist, you can book online.
  11. If we can't get to the grocery stores, Instacart is a huge lifesaver for us...especially after going car-free a few months ago.
  12. Masa 14's Ryan Ratino is doing a pop-up January 17 at Le Bon Cafe with Lucas Power (Rose's Luxury, minibar, Le Commis): Eventbrite Tickets - Facebook Event Page
  13. Ryan Ratino (L'Auberge Provencale, Caviar Russe, Todd English's bluezoo) has recently taken over as Chef de Cuisine, and has a new menu. we checked it out last night and had a wonderful time. (Full Disclosure: Ryan is a good friend of ours, and a fellow Cleveland native.) [New Chef, New Menu: Washington DC's MASA 14 by me.]
  14. I'm surprised Linwoods hasn't been brought up before. We went for the first time last week and enjoyed the $24 Prix Fixe lunch menu. "Linwoods Restaurant: A Gem In Owings Mills" by me.
  15. Oh yeah. My friends Jonathon Sawyer (The Greenhouse Tavern, Noodlecat, Trentina) and Brian Reilly (Vespa Westport, The Greenhouse Tavern, Noodlecat) are HUGE metalheads.
  16. I know quite a few metal musicians that are major foodies. Mark Holcomb (Periphery) and Alex Markides (Periphery's FOH Engineer) come to mind...
  17. Jennifer Gerres, DPM is a Foot & Ankle Surgeon/Podiatrist who is seeking a position in the Washington, DC & Baltimore, MD metro areas. Dr. Gerres is a 2010 graduate of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery, and completed a Residency at Cleveland Clinic in 2014. A CV and Contact Information for Dr. Gerres can be found at gerresdpm.com.
  18. I'm surprised this humble restaurant tucked into a nondescript strip mall in Owings Mills hasn't been talked about. Richard Gorelick of The Baltimore Sun wrote about it when it opened it 2011: It's quickly become our go-to for good and inexpensive Mediterranean takeout. Full review here.
  19. We went there recently for a brunch and had an excellent time. I'm sure the Unlimited Mimosas had something to do with that.
