  1. I learned over the weekend that along with picking up eggs, milk & bread, I can also pick a 2014 bottle of Opus One ($400). You know grocery essentials.
  2. I was thinking the same. What once was Bangkok Golden, then changed the name of the restaurant to Padaek. Thai dishes are still served, but both Thai as well Lao cuisine are available. Chef Seng, and her son Bobby, would be a great interview.
  3. I'd love to hear more about the places of yesteryear. I'm completely into nostalgia, so places and people that have paved the way for the new guard, is what I would be interested in learning.
  4. this journo happens to be one of several that have spotlighted Lancaster, Pa. The writer that I spoke of was exploring the more historical aspects of the city. I am just delighted that it landed on the front page of the food section of the NY Times.
  5. The Best Cheese Shop in Lancaster, Pa. Mandros Imports is a slice of heaven filled with all kinds of goodness not limited to just great cheeses and meats. They have aisles packed with all kinds of products like oils and vinegar, pastas, as well as other imported foods. When you walk into this shop, you are transported to an era of yesteryear. 10/10 would stop here to pick up cheeses and meats. I am going to start listing great spots to explore, in this thread. I will continue to post place to eat here.
  6. My Viet Oriental Food Market is by far the best spot I have picked up a Bahn Mi. I would go so far to say it is in the same league as ones you would pick up at the shops at Eden Center, perhaps a smidge better. The backdrop is an Asian Grocery store, but just beside the produce area there is a small stall selling these Vietnamese subs. My litmus for a good bahn mi is of course the bread, and this one delivers. if you go, bring cash. Its a cash only operation, and the sandwiches are $5 a pop.
  7. Chap’s Pit Beef Coming to Media, PA, PRWeb.com Makes me wonder if maybe they may do a mash up of a pit beef/cheesesteak? sorry, @DonRocks wrong forum. Please relocate in Philly forum. Oops, thought I was in the right location.
  8. My stock answer is Amazon, but if you want the opportunity to taste the vinegar, and engage with a person, I recommend Georgetown Olive Oil Company, or possibly Hill's Kitchen near Eastern Market.
  9. It appears that that the Lancaster City Alliance has been hosting several from the NY Times since this past winter. Several tour companies throughout the city are ramping up their businesses in the hopes that they will garner some attention. There are some serious dollars invested in attracting the business of travelers. Whether I want it or not, is not the question. It may be happening regardless.
  10. It's gonna be a new column beginning in August! She is a delight. I enjoy her podcast as well! Look for it on Itunes, if its your sorta thing...It's titled, Robicelli Argument Clinic.
  11. Why so Serious? , Allison Robicelli for seriouseats.com
  12. Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum. You will find a wealth of information here, and looking forward to your contributions.
  13. Pre- paid dining credit account at Thamee. Bonuses offered up until 7-21-19. Not living in the area, I do not see the upside of signing onto this, but I could possibly see the value of this both for the business to build capital, and to encourage diners to dine here more often. Could this lead other restaurants starting "house accounts"?
  14. Alternatives for you if you are seeking to have Lao Food, Lao in Town, or Hanumanh. The latter is ran by the same team as Thip Khao. Or call TK directly to see what’s up?
  15. Just a hunch... But the NY Times photographer has been popping up in Lancaster at several different spots. My spidey senses tell me an #36hoursinLancasterPa is soon to to follow. Just a hunch. I hope my hunch is spot on.
  16. Add it to their answer of being mindful of food waste. I call BS. I’d confidently conclude that it gets tossed out in the trash in the end, so how is that a no-waste solution?
  17. Dehydrated citrus slices that is served with my drink.
  18. Just received a press release stating that Todd Thrasher will not be renewing the lease for PX. The speakeasy will be closing shop on July 27, 2019.
