  1. I am a Jennifer Carroll fan. Over the summer she made an incredible meal while I was entertaining a client. The most tender and wonderful sweetbreads that I have ever had.
  2. I have been asked to bring a couple of vege's to Thanksgiving this year. I am going to roast a couple of heads of cauliflower and then was asked to bring string beans for 10 - 15. I could just steam them and bring them, but I am looking for something a little more creative. Any ideas?
  3. I have been to buffalo wing, The kids thought it was really cool eating at a restaurant with fifty televisions. I liked their honey mustard sauce.
  4. I was in Harris Teeter tonight and just an empty space where there was supposed to be Giffords pints. Looks like the wholesale business is not looking good either.
  5. I have been looking forward to the Uptown Deli to open (They have looked ready for over a month), but knowing Montgomery County I am sure some permit or last minute red tape will take a week and make it two months.
  6. I haven't eaten here yet. I did walk in to the Potomac location and looked at the menu but just couldn't get excited so walked across the street to Elevation burger (really don't feel like I missed anything). The place looks bright and airy but just feels like something is missing.
  7. Love comfort food .Count me in (plus 2 kids) - how about if I bake some brownies, brownies cover sweet and comfort
  8. Dinner was wonderful last night. Chef Donna is definitely back and on top of his game. Service was excellent and Nancy was an extrememly charming hostess. We were two seated at table 22 so we were right down in front. Joe is right these are the tables to be requested when you are looking for an experience reminiscent of the lab (you are that close). Chef Donna came up to the front several times during dinner and we had the opportunity to chat with him. A glass of persecco is the perfect way to start off a meal here; not too sweet, not too too tart. There was not one bad course and each bult upon the other. Chef Donna's strength has always been pasta and risotto. Tonight seafood elevated that to a higher level. Just a mention of my favorite dishes last night Scallops were excellent both in flavor and doneness. Black Taglierini with lobster tail - This is setting the bar of excellence. I always worry about lobster tail coming out overdone this tail was done exactly as it should be. Budino - I really had no idea what to expect, but I ordered this through recommendation - Parmigiano Reggiano cheese pudding - JUST DO IT!!! Chestnut soup - Very rich and flavorful Thank You to Chef Donna for offering the special and his hospitality. Just a reminder to members using the discount offered - Please be sure to tip before discount, the staff really worked hard last night and definitely deserves our appreciation.
  9. I haven't been to mussel bar yet. I would love to join everyone at 11:30.
  10. Sounds like I will see everyone Saturday night. I assume the dress code is business casual (no jeans).
  11. I am in Philadelphia Thursday and Friday. but next week for mussel lunch would be great.
  12. My kids think it is very cool that swipe cards and cook pasta right in front of them.
  13. I haven't been here in a few years, but remember enjoying the wings. Tonight on Diners, Drive In's and Dives they had a DC segment and it looked like Oohh's and Aahh's (I only caught the last few minutes while flipping channels). Has anyone been recently? How are they holding up? Guy Fieri said it was great!
  14. That is a shame. I liked there food. I was just there a few weeks ago and had a very good meal. Not cheap eats but definitely quality food for a fair price. Hopefully they can reopen and give it another go in a different location.
  15. Just a reminder if you are free for lunch today we are meeting at the brand new Taylor Gourmet in Bethesda at 12:30 they just opened yesterday.(7280 Woodmont Avenue).
  16. My favorite pizza was the cotto e funghi too. Our corner shared four different pizza's, so we each shared a 1/4 of a different type. One of our pizzas was one of the no cheese pizza's and that just showed us how good the pizza really was, when the crust stands on its own. Perfectly cooked excellent char - This is really the standard of what pizza should be reaching for. The appetizer platters - perfect. Potatoe croquettes and arancini like no other. I could have made a meal on just the appetizers and then I remembered OMG we still have pizza coming. Don't forget the wonderful cannoli. A beautiful end to a great night.
  17. If we can still add another please put me down for a yes on Tuesday night. Thanks. hm212
  18. Wednesday lunch would work great. I need to get out more
  19. I will echo the previous comments. Went with my daughter and we had a great time last night. It was really nice that most of us were all in the same section. Next time we do a game we will have to go as a group and get "Donrockwell.com" on the jumbotron. Glad we got there early (about 5:30) so we were able to get bobbleheads. Most of us were in line together for food so the hour plus wait for food passed quickly. When we left in the 7th inning the line for food was still wrapped around the stadium. Lamb Hot dog and soft shell crab were my favorites (took off the forgetable buns). Burger had temperature issues. Daughter thought popcorn rocked!!
  20. I will be down in Virginia Beach next month with kids for a week. There will be three kids 7 - 11. We will be staying in a condo on the boardwalk (around 6th Street) so we will probably only be doing dinners out. Any current recs for family friendly but not fast food.
  21. WTOP polls are rediculous and scary if real. I heard on the radio this morning best burger was Cheeburger Cheeburger and Five Guys.
  22. I promised to take a friend to a nice lunch on Saturday. Thinking wine, lobster etc. - I know she loves the Palm but they don't do lunch on weekends. Location not important, but Montgomery County, Tysons, Easy DC from Moco preferred. Anyone know of a Palm, Capital Grille expense account type place that does lunch on Saturday's (think nice Saturday night restaurant, but due to time constraints doing at lunch time). This would really help me out. Thanks.
