  1. Is that in the space next to Founding Farmers? I thought it looked like something was close to opening last week. Any chance they are doing a soft openning this weekend?
  2. I think timing plays in too. I was out on Saturday not planning to have dinner out and the next thing we knew it was 8:30. I would not stop at xxxx restaurant because it was prime time on Saturday night and not appropriate. I had been during the week early (5ish) at the same restaurant in jeans and tshirt and I felt perfectly ok. There is just a difference between Saturday night prime time and other nights.
  3. Went today with the Groupon. I had never been before and unfortunately did not leave a fan. We got a half New Haven and half East Rock. Way oversalted, tasted like a salt lick. I rembered reading some comments about salty and wow they were right. Could not get over the price stickershock of what it would have run if I didn't have the groupon ($26 pizza) - Don't think I would be back for pizza. We had the the gelato and I think that was one of the best gelato I had in a long time. Would definitely go back for gelato and their desserts.
  4. I had the bone in rib eye last Sunday night along and this was as flavorful and tender a steak as always. I think we also had a 12 oz NY strip along with a couple of sides, the mac and cheese was spot on after the past few times being a little disappointed in the mac and cheese. I know this has gone through a few recipe revisions over time, but the one we had Sunday night was perfect - Creamy without drowning and the perfect amount of cheese flavor. The bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer done perfectly!!! It was dinner for two for two nights - including tip $ 120, not cheap eats, but the this is still an incredible value given the quality of the food and service.
  5. I still think HB2 needs to have the chocolate moose. I had the almost perfect lunch last weekend - Cheesesteak and tator tots, wanted a chocolate moose to go and couldnt get one.
  6. Fruit flavors, raspberry in particular was excellent and they do use real local fruit. Very fresh, creamy with nice texture.
  7. Another vote for the BBQ duck pork and chicken.. Probably would order a second if more adults, but one platter served 2 preteen girls and me well.
  8. I agree - just last week someone asked me about a restaurant in NY - I hadn't been there lately but I clicked on the NY forum and gave a couple of ideas. We have a lot of people that business travel and I am in Philadelphia a lot, always looking for something fun to kill a few hours rather than a hotel bar.
  9. Hopefully Rockville will get smart and not allow this... http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/breaking_ground/2012/01/rockville-pike-wal-mart-met-with-mixed.html
  10. Anyone know what happens if a restaurant goes out of business. I bought a Yum Burger coupon from Capital Deals back in November, went to use it tonight and found they were out of business. I just sent Capital Deals an email, but noticed on their website that they claim they are not responsible for not being able to use due to a restaurant going out of business.
  11. I don't think it is the nickel that makes the issue. It is stores that are not used to it and charging your order and then saying "Oh, did you need a bag, that will be five cents". The grocery stores are adding them in before totalling your order and once that becomes commonplace it will be easier than to hunt up a nickel or dime to pay a tax because we are not used to it and some clerk didn't think to add it in or ask before totalling out the order. CVS was so far the one store to annoy me with the nickel so far and it was all about sloppy counter service that annoyed me.
  12. I thought we had been offline for the last ten days. Couldn't get in at all, I think others are having the same problem
  13. Had Ray's cheesesteak for lunch today - The girls shared one sandwich and tater tots and were both stuffed!! The description above is the perfect description of Ray's cheesteaks.
  14. I didn't think Spike was ready to be against this group.
  15. Probably would suggest Mamma Lucia for delivery in Bethesda. Not as good as their Federal Plaza location but probably the best for delivery in Behtesda. I agree with Heather, Mia is very good but not after being in a coffin for half hour.
  16. The Roasted Turkey was nice and moist, the avacado spread had great flavor. Nice size meat sandwich, but yes as Heather said a little pricey. If they keep up the quality this will be a very good lunch option.
  17. I still think that they go too far. One day in the not too distant future a major food chan will get sued for their commercial vs. what actually is served in their restaurant.
  18. I think it was one of those things that were a great idea in concept but in real life had too many detail issues to work.
  19. Amazon - $25 pre-orders and free shipping http://www.amazon.com/VOLT-ink-Recipes-Stories-Brothers/dp/1616281618
  20. Taylor Gourmet has gone from HOT to NOT. I don't think it was just the bread - Weak service, cocky attitude let them down the slide that has led to the ruin of many a once great place.
  21. I am going to the Philadelphia Fogo Monday night with a group from work. I haven't been in a few years and enjoyed it back then (it was a lot cheaper a few years ago - lol) wondering if anyone knows if the quality has kept up with the price? Wondering about DC too, my meeting just happens to be in Philadelphia this week.
