With a logo like that, I'd expect to step inside and hear background music consisting of Christopher Cross, Robbie Dupree, etc. Aieeeee!

Same here, a regimen of pills every morning for underfunctioning thyroid and adrenals. Re Ms. Deen, having adverse experiences earlier in life very often affects how you react to events later in life that threaten your security.

What's an "executive burger"? A great name for a band, that's what!

Good thing I went when I did, I liked the braised lamb, and am not crazy about cilantro.

I and a few work colleagues went to Cava Mezze Grille in Bethesda for lunch last week. Everyone was pleased with their food, and I was impressed with the freshness of the ingredients, and how well it held up on the walk back to the office (we all got it to go). I'll definitely go back. I had the rice bowl with the shredded lamb, crazy feta, felafal, and really enjoyed it.

There was a time when I would stop into the local mom and pop restaurant supply store in my hometown to pick up a box of Whippets.

6 to 8 pm, the 6th and final Home Brewers Matchup at Meridian Pint. Free beer! Winner will compete against past five champions for the chance to brew a commercial batch at D.C. Brau that will be served at the Pint in fall '12. I only just found out about this today from an entrant's spouse. No word of it on the Pint's site, I think you have to look on their FB page. Which I'm barred from at work. I was up too late last night or I'd be there. http://dcbeer.com/20...er-match-up-vi/

From "The Cooks Thesaurus": coulotte steak = culotte steak = culottes steak = top sirloin cap steak Notes: This is a small, boneless steak cut from the sirloin. It's got good flavor, but it's a bit tougher than other steaks so you might want to marinate before cooking it. Substitutes: sirloin steak

Page 21 of the Virginia Retail Licensee Guide: QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q. A couple dining at your restaurant order a bottle of wine during dinner and do not finish drinking all of it. Are they allowed to take it home? A. Yes. The couple may take the wine home as long as it is still in the original bottle and it has been resealed. [3 VAC 5-40-30]

Yep, those are the players. Good stuff, no doubt.

Why take the risk? Send them to me for environmentally sensitive disposal. On baguette slices.

The media would dispatch a reporter and you'd become a human interest story. Someone would secretly take a video of you with their smart phone and it would show up on You Tube with dialogue inserted. It would go viral.

What Are You Simmering Right Now? A Place for Mid-Stew Musings
MsDiPesto replied to jparrott's topic in Shopping and Cooking
I've been making chicken and orzo soup this week. I don't make the stock, but throw in carrots, celery, onions, garlic, roasted red peppers, drop of soy sauce and a small amount of chili-garlic sauce to keep it interesting. Next time I'll toast the orzo first as I read in Rachel Ray's (yes, her) recipe. -
I found red cerignola olives at Wegman's, and they looked really nice on the appetizer table on New Years Eve, and were tasty to boot.

New Year's Eve, I had lobster tails that were cooked in a Sous-Vide Supreme by a friend. Delicious! I usually don't care for lobster, but these were meltingly tender and flavorful.

I've always thought it reflecting the setting. I doubt any servers in fine dining places use this casual greeting, but if you're in a pizza place, you might hear it.

I wouldn't count on minimum wage workers at a burger counter to know the provenance of what they are serving you. You got a more detailed reply than I would expect, nice.

I don't understand why the resistance to providing translation. This is like opening up a diner with all the menus in Scottish Gaelic. With a big surly guy in a kilt to say "Och, laddie, ya n'ae like!"

So true about the Columbians moniker being discarded. Perhaps it has something to do with the crisp and unique sound of "District".

Considering the dearth of quality dining in Bethesda, we'll take anything.

This is an absolute truth. As for the name thing I recall my engraved wedding invitations stating that the reception was going to be at the Univ Club in the District of Columbia.
