  1. I thought Ella's oven was fueled by gas with the occasional log thrown in for "that smoky flavor".. Could be wrong though.. Also, 2amys had 2 tenants above them for years, an accountant, and some sort of resale clothing store.. I know the accountant is gone-because that's where the upstairs dining room is, but I think the clothing store is still directly above the oven. Maybe the code has changed since 2amys opened, and they got "grandfathered" in?
  2. For their next beer, I suggest the name Cock Knocker Red Ale..
  3. Miguels is my dad's favorite restaurant, (he lives in Seal Cove). Galyn's Galley was one of my first jobs-I was a dishwasher/prep cook there during high school.
  4. food-ie Pronunciation: \ˈfü-dē\Function: noun Date: 1982 : a person having an avid interest in the latest food fads That's from Merriam-Websters Dictionary.
  5. "if it's messy, eat it over the sink"-Tom Robbins
  6. Homemade mayo. If you make my sandwich with a tiny bit of Hellmann's, and don't tell me it's on there, I may eat it- if I'm hungry enough. If you use Miracle Whip, I will know, and I'm not eating that $h!t..
  7. I was not sure where to put this link http://vimeo.com/6518496 , so it goes here. brief video with an attractive woman talking about pizze in Naples and New York.
  8. Good points. Unless one can clearly define what is, and what is not, a certain style of pizza, by some method-say a department of agriculture document that goes so far as to list specific ph levels and nutritional information in addition to acceptable ingredients and methods of preparation, how can one clearly say they are making said certain style of pizza? Everything else, and perhaps even the clearly defined and documented pizza, is just marketing or PR.. What truly matters is the taste, and as we all know, taste is subjective.
  9. I like a good espresso and the occasional cappuccino, (espresso anytime, cappuccino before noon only.) Especially when I am in Italy, or I know that it's going to be a really good cup. However, those are rare occasions that I don't think Starbucks is prepared to deliver. When I want regular, drip coffee,(which is about 10 times a day) it is just a drug. That frappuccino thing with the chocolate and whipped cream is pretty good though.
  10. Like most addicts; I am just looking for the quickest and cheapest fix to keep the withdrawal at bay.
  11. I just stopped at Starbucks, something I very rarely do as I don't like it much, for a regular coffee, (I don't know the official lingo for drip coffee at this joint which always makes it confusing for me) They were out of it!! She said if I wanted to wait, that she thought the coffee would be on them. I said no thank you and went to 7-11 (my usual coffee stop.) Even my 9 year old son was confused as to why a shop that has built an empire on, (and mainly sells) coffee could be out of coffee..She did offer to make me an "Americano" yeesh.
  12. disclaimer: I like Neapolitan pizze, and consider everything else to be pretty bad, (but still good, it's pizza after all). Alas, no Neapolitan pizze to be had in DC... (turns out "certification" means very little if there is no follow thru on the guidelines, and no, you can't invoke Roshamon). I kinda like Ledo though...
  13. I've noticed, a few times now, the misspelling of pizzeria. It's pizzeria, not pizzaria. Pizze is plural.. Thanks.
  14. It's 3 am, why aren't you at work?

  15. got confused and combined this thread with the Flippin' Pizza thread in my mind, and in my reply there -> http://www.donrockwell.com/index.php?showtopic=10956&view=findpost&p=143971
