Oh god, the dreaded third S! My wife even cringes at that, and she grew up a couple miles down the road from Florida's Silver Springs (now residing in my native Silver Spring). It's not that difficult, people.

Do they have a pre-game happy hour? I recall seeing that they were going to offer a happy hour but not when the Nats are in town. I'd like to see that change.

Fritz Hahn of the Post checked out their temporary Piratz space opening. I have a feeling they're going to be there for awhile. Will be in soon to check it out.

The Five Guys closest to me (which is new and never really busy) definitely cooks to order. Cashier announces how many patties for the flat-top and they go on. And the wait is about ten minutes - right around when you'd expect a med-well burger to be done.

I'm going to have to throw a flag on the use of "exurbian" here, Don. Frederick is its own town - has been for 270 years now. It might be in the Baltimore market and people commute down to DC to work, but its nobody's exurb. The Baltimore and Richmond locations are bang inside the city limits. Leaving only one notorious exurb out of the four. Unless you're counting Richmond, Baltimore and Frederick all as exurbs of DC. If that's the case then let me run out of the way of the flying rocks.

The steak dinner I had at a San Sebastian cideria is probably the best meal I've ever enjoyed. I can see how Fitz and co. were impressed by their travels. Excited to try this place.

Maybe I'll try a biscuit or two -- and will definitely try the Sam Adams Anniversary IPA. Glad the Nats are upping their relationship with Boston Beer Co. But, yeah, the growing list of choices outside the Park is the real story in Near SE. I'm looking forward to some post-game/beer drumsticks and fries at Bonchon.

Dining in Rockville (and Rockville Town Center)
Kev29 replied to DanielK's topic in Washington DC Restaurants and Dining
Pike & Rose area (+ White Flint and really all of 20852) is not really Rockville though. Since Rockville is an incorporated city that does not begin for another half mile or so up the Pike at Rollins Ave/Twinbrook Pkwy. 20852 has long needed a name. I mean, is Georgetown Prep in Rockville? Is Strathmore? People have used Rockville because of Rockville Pike (which is not even the name of 355 in downtown Rockville) and USPS defaults to Rockville for 20852. Of course realtors and developers are going to pick up the slack if no one else comes up with a more official name. Now people are trying to push "The Pike District." Not happening. I like Don's humbler South Rockville -
I don't really believe in the idea of "cursed locations." Sure there are spots that are advantageous and disadvantageous, but if you give a market what they want, they will find you. One example, people thought this location was "cursed" on the Pike for years...

Thunder Grill has long been my pick as the worst restaurant in the city. Just horrendous. Even with a captive audience, I have no idea how they stay in business. Dry Sysco food served slowly by zombies. Center Cafe at least has a pleasant enough, usable bar for frequent Amtrakers. The America space is now Shake Shack.

Though there's a distinction between Southern food and soul food, no? Even Southern soul food and diasporic soul food?
