  1. We saw Bill and his lovely wife Kelly at the beach last week. The Market will be opening this fall.
  2. I got my Weber for almost half off a few years ago as the local HD was overstocked; the manager even threw in a grill cover. I think it was in late September.
  3. Wow, did we have a great meal at Herbsaint. Sam was kind enough to send out a couple of things for our table-a cobia crudo and a spicy small pot of beans. I enjoyed the signature short ribs and we also ordered the tuna. I wasn't really taking notes but the food and service was top notch and certainly makes the city proud. And for the record, I was wearing shorts given the 100 degree temps. A lengthy and interesting wine list as well. We will return. Thanks again Sam!!
  4. The rents are wayyy high in CP. I know that's why Dino moved. At some point you have to think the landlords are shooting themselves in their feet.
  5. My brother's place is called Cafe Soule and we will be dining at Herbsaint on Saturday!
  6. My wife informed me I WILL wear long pants if necessary so that expands our dining options. Yes dear. That said, my brother who will be joining us insists we go to his favorite place which I have never heard of and can't remember the name so that leaves one night but of course we have to eat breakfast and lunch.
  7. A Silpat works for anything pizza.
  8. for Bethany, add Blue Coast. Fun bar scene but it gets crowded and no reservations. For Rehoboth, add Papa Grandes-street Mexican. Upstairs deck and inside bar with Chris behind it, Try the margaritas,
  9. Thanks everyone. We're staying at the JW Marriott on Canal and would like to walk to dinner but that's only an option.
  10. Corkage is restaurant option in DC and generally reasonable. Same for VA and now in MD (all or just some counties?)
  11. In NO for a couple nights so need dining recs. I have some places in mind but happy to hear suggestions.Given how hot it will be, I would love to wear nice shorts out.
  12. in Betheny-Betheny Blues BBQ. Good food and perfect for families. Keep in mind most places at the beach don't take reservations. Rehoboth-Big Fish Grill, Salt Air, Lupos Italian Kitchen, Fins for oysters, food is mixed however.Henlopen Oyster House. EDIT: I guess I was too late but good for next trip.
  13. I don't understand why the Grotto doesn't get more love from the foodie powers that be? Dean serves delicious, creative food that is reasonably priced period.
  14. I thought the food overall was ok, worth a trip if you're close (which we are). If it's the "best" in the area, we have a long way to go.
  15. Bottom line; I thought the Fishnook prix fix experience one of the best dining values in a city where value seems to be disappearing in the face of celebrity chefs, etc. If you haven't been, you need to check it out for yourself. Right by the metro so very convenient,
  16. roof top bar of Brixton but it will be crowded I bet.It is fairly large so might be ok. Tabaq is fun but smaller.
  17. nice meal at Billy Sud last night on the open seating patio. Pate, Vichyssoise, duck confit and scallops were all good as was the service. MY 2001 Donjon CNDP was decanted without me having to ask . Our waitew-Italo (sp) was professional and friendly. We had a nice chat with manager Sam who told me they will be expanding next door and also they welcome wino dinners. Very pleasant start before Blues Alley. We will return!
  18. Welcome new members and I encourage you to use your real name (mine is in my signature).
  19. The Hamilton was very nice last night. We were quite impressed with the limited menu. Our 3 cheese plate and especially the carbonara pizza were excellent and after requesting the much larger upstairs wine list (excellent!), managing director David Moran decanted the Priorat I ordered. This was a first in a concert setting. My spouse ordered one of the sushi offerings-Yellow Tail-which tasted just ok to me as it could have been fresher. However, this is a minor quibble. Eliane Elias put on a brilliant performance so an extremely pleasant evening.
  20. white wine with salad, red wine with pizza. Remember, white wine is what you drink before red wine says Bruno Prats.
  21. Dean Gold's Dino's Grotto continues to have an excellent list and is discounted weekly. $7.50pp corkage also a good thing.
  22. The original Maggies next to Armands (also gone but never forgotten) on Wisconsin served mediocre pizza but it was pretty cheap. However, Armands had their daily lunch buffet with all the salad and pizza one could consume so why bother with Maggies??
