Fiola sent an email this weekend announcing "our new menu format at lunch and dinner, offering our guests a choice of courses for a set price, focusing on our guests' freedom to select a variety of dishes." In addition to the set price menus, the dishes in the Classics section are offered a la carte or can be included in the set price menu for a supplement. I was in NY yesterday and had some form of tip automatically added or included at lunch and dinner. I had lunch at Joe's Shanghai, and they add a 15% service charge to the bill (from an internet search, seems that this has been their practice for a long time). I had dinner at Huertas, and they recently switched to a system in which the menu prices already include tip (see note at the bottom of the menu). In addition to the note on the menu, the server mentioned it to me when presenting me with the bill, and the credit card slip did not have an additional line to add tip. Screenshot of bottom of menu

The former Alder space turned into Biang! which is now open.

Tom Sietsema tweeted today that Mio is closing, and Manuel Iguina plans to open a casual Puerto Rican restaurant in Fairfax.

The Alexandria location opened last year on Dec. 16, 2014 (via District Taco tweet). Today, District Taco tweeted that they're opening their Rosslyn location on Jan. 8, 2016. The address is 1500 Wilson Blvd (but it's on the Clarendon Blvd side of the building).

I asked about the size of the chicken and was told that it's a whole chicken. I didn't get it (though I did consider it because of the parkerhouse rolls that come with the dishes for the table). [The discussion about chicken has been moved here.]

South Block opened this summer at 2121 N. Westmoreland St. in Falls Church, opened on Dec. 12 in Jammin Java at 227 Maple Ave East in Vienna, and opened on Dec. 21 in Ease Yoga studio at 3051 Mt. Vernon Ave. in Del Ray.

Good point. The happy hour specials extend to the sit down tables in the lounge area (1st floor) at Fuego,

Not sure if you're thinking of more of a quick casual sort of place, rather than a restaurant, but I think the first floor bar/lounge area at Fuego has one of the best happy hour food deals in Clarendon. They have cheap happy hour food for $5 from 4-7pm (plus $5 drinks). For example, you can get a burger for $5. On Tuesdays, two tacos are $5, and on Thursdays, a torta (sandwich) is $5. Plus free chips and salsa. The happy hour lounge food menu is on page two.

Opening day menus and my two door nachos from the happy hour menu ($6) with pulled pork (+$2) (smoky & moist pork) and 1 link of habanero and cheese sausage ($6) (not that spicy, cheesy) which came with bread and pickles. I was told that the two door and four door on the happy hour menu refer to the size of the nachos.
