  1. The hotel right across the street from Zahav is Sheraton on Society Hill. It's fine. If you're in that area, Olde Bar (former Bookbinder's location) has a happy hour every day (5-7 on Mon-Fri, 4-6 on Sat and Sun). The bar at Zahav fills up right at opening, at 5pm, and even earlier (they let people in to the bar earlier). Even when I walked in last night at 5pm on a Sunday, the bar was already almost full except for 2 seats. Going back to Center City, I also liked Abe Fisher (also has a weekend happy hour at the bar, 5-7 pm). I tried to stop at the bar at Tinto once, but it was too crowded. I like Sampan as a solo diner at the counter in the dining room where you can see them cooking. I've had no luck the few times I've tried to sit at the bar, which isn't that large and is hectic. But I've been able to get the dining room counter without reservations.
  2. Also by Tim Carman: "El Sol will close on 14th Street and reopen down the block as Mezcalero Cocina Mexicana."
  3. Helen's soft opened last night (or the previous night) and is planning a grand opening in May 2016 (Bethesda Magazine, Helen's Facebook post).
  4. Mama Rouge closed for renovation in December 2015 (Facebook). The restaurant is now re-opening as Bangkok Joe's (again) on April 7, 2016, with a revised menu (Washington City Paper). The article says:
  5. Bethesda Magazine reported that the second Fish Taco location on Old Georgetown Rd at Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda has opened.
  6. As long as we're reminiscing, I don't recall the food, but I do recall fun times with coworkers at Peppers restaurant back in the 90's.
  7. The former Meskerem location in Adams Morgan is becoming 2020 Restaurant and Lounge, which expects to open on March 4, 2016 (via Borderstan). No thread yet
  8. It didnt strike me until this episode that Padma is now serving as a judge? I missed when that transition happened.
  9. Washington Business Journal reports that Cheesetique will be opening another location in Ballston at the former Pizza Vinoteca location on Glebe Rd.
