  1. Yes, the EAT sign is still on the building, which now houses Texas Jack's. The sign for Texas Jack's matches the EAT sign so I don't expect the EAT sign to be going anywhere.
  2. The Washington Post reports that Aaron Silverman has hired Jeff Faile as beverage director of Rose's Luxury and Pineapple and Pearls. Jeff Faile will be starting on Feb. 23. The Washington Post also says "While Faile has been brought on with responsibility for both of Silverman's restaurants, he'll be spending much of his time for now focusing on Pineapple and Pearls."
  3. It opened today, Feb. 3, 2016 (via Old Town Alexandria Patch and Hank's Pasta Bar's Facebook page. Also see Washington City Paper for more info.)
  4. Take a look at the menu for Hojo Santa (not sure if it's one of the closed restaurants when you're there?). When I went, they had those molecular gastronomy "olives," and I thought some of their other dishes were molecular gastronomy influenced (though the dishes were not as "different" as Disfrutar's tasting was). I also enjoyed El Xampanyet -- I arrived soon after they opened on a Saturday and was glad to have arrived when I did because they got crowded quickly. I wish I were going back to Barcelona!
  5. Fritz Hahn of the Washington Post tweeted that Neighborhood Restaurant Group will be opening the Sovereign the middle of next week. It's located at 1206 Wisconsin Ave, NW, in Georgetown. Greg Engert chose the Belgian beers, and Peter Smith will be cooking. See Fritz Hahn's Washington Post article for more details.
  6. Restaurant Week for January 2016 starts tomorrow, Jan. 25, and runs through Jan. 31, 2016 (not including restaurants who are extending.) Lunch is $22 and dinner is $35 (I know, what happened to the cents = year?) Participating restaurants are listed here (if you click on the restaurant, there's a link to download the pdf menu if available).
  7. The Washington City Paper and the Washington Post had articles about how certain restaurant and other workers are getting to work.
  8. This is just The Columbia Room (an expanded version, see this Washington Post article for details.) The Passenger will reopen in the future at a different location. The Passenger's new location will be at 1539 7th St, NW, in Shaw (see this Washington Post article for details).
  9. Old Town Alexandria Patch states that Hank's Pasta Bar is opening on Feb. 4, 2016. The address is 600 Montgomery St, Alexandria, VA. Here is the Washington Post article from last May about this upcoming restaurant from Jamie Leeds.
  10. The Columbia Room is reopening at its new location at 124 Blagden Alley, NW, DC on Feb. 9, 2016 (via Washington Post, plus more information in article.)
  11. Borderstan reports that Ping Pong Dim Sum is closing its Dupont Circle location on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, and plans to relocate to a smaller space.
  12. PoPville reports that Raku in Dupont Circle is rebranding as Rakuya. Raku's website says the location is under renovation until Winter 2015. PoPville also mentions that Raku opened a location in Cathedral Heights (3312 Wisconsin Ave, NW).
  13. DBGB DC posted on Instagram that they have no corkage Mondays.
  14. I haven't seen anything about Todd Kliman's chat having resumed again after the holidays.
  15. The Washington Post reports that Little Sesame, a lunchtime hummus shop, is opening tomorrow, Jan. 5 (11:30 am - 3:00 pm Mon-Fri), in the lower level of DGS Deli in Dupont Circle.
