  1. I believe there was a settlement announced for Zakarian's case as well.
  2. I miss Frank, his commentary as well as his music. He was really a contemporary classical composer at heart, but also understood the business of the music industry.
  3. The gent who was president of the legal publisher I worked for in the 90's on 20th St was a member and brought our whole office there for some celebratory luncheon. I can't remember any details about it, other than no wine was served. I think the fare was more typical banquet material at that time.
  4. I don't follow reality shows, but I do read Arl Now. Here's a summary from an earlier story about Oz that should answer your questions. This was in an ArlNow story June 22, 2016: The restaurant, at 2950 Clarendon Blvd, is co-owned by Ashley Darby, a cast member on the Bravo TV show Real Housewives of Potomac. The show began filming its second season in April — a process that was expected to take 3-4 months. From an earlier story: The restaurant serves authentic Australian cuisine, Darby said, adding that the food is new to many of the restaurant staff, including herself. “We’re all learning as we go,” said Darby, who was crowned Miss D.C. in 2011. Darby co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Michael, who is an Australian native and the co-founder of local real estate development firm Monument Realty. Also, to make things interesting, I think this is a May - December relationship.
  5. You're correct that it was the original WF that I knew of in VA. Actually it started as "Fresh Fields" and is the reason I still sometimes call WF "Fresh Fields".
  6. This is the problem with universal internet access. The crazies can mount an attack on innocent people based on their personal delusions.
  7. Too bad the venue didn't have the ability to put a "cone of silence" over that obnoxious table. Thanks for the review!
  8. According to an article in Arl.now today, China Garden may be terminating it's lease at the request of the property owner who wants to convert the space to two more television studios. Permission is being sought from the Arlington County Board.
  9. Happy circumstance made it possible for me to eat at the first Citronelle in Santa Barbara. I knew it was special at the time. I had the pleasure of the Georgetown Citronelle only once. And I really liked Central the couple of times I've been. He had a distinctive style and gave DC something to boast about.
  10. I was taken there for the first time in ages. My ex and I, and another couple we are long time friends with. None of us go there unless it's with a group like this. They have a new chef, and I can't remember the restaurant he was with other than it began with "F". The hostess informed us he was a CIA grad, which isn't necessarily a guarantee of greatness these days. We started with drinks, I had the Limone Martini, Absolut with their house made limoncello. I can't remember the wine, I'm afraid. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese, which came with a hearty ragu, but needed more flavor. Others ordered the Spag & Meatballs, the Mussels, and the Gnocci. The mussels and gnocci were praised, the gnocci was not leaden at all. My friend ate all his Spag & Meatballs, so I guess it was good enough. The Caprese salad was nice enough, and I liked my Tiramisu. Service is eager to please, if a bit in need of polish. We had fun, at a window table while it was still daylight out.
  11. I was in a Trader Joe's the other day, and saw sliced musrooms in plastic covered boxes that were starting to develop blotches. Short shelf life.
  12. According to Eater, Laura Hayes takes over as food editor at Washington City Paper on July 11. Meanwhile, Jessica Sidman will be food editor at Washingtonian. Michael Schaffer, editor at Washingtonian also hired Sidman for WCP when he was there.
  13. A friend of mine purchased a nice variety of their offerings for a party she co-hosted last week, and I thought the food was very good, as did the guests. She said the staff was very helpful as well.
  14. I'll admit to being fond of the Six-Way BBQ Noodles, but don't think I've eaten there since 1995, before I moved to the Falls Church area.
  15. I don't suppose that great deli that was on Wolf Rd. near the airport is still there? I think it was called Jack's? It's been awhile since I've been in that area.
